Measuring guide
Ten numbers, one helper, twenty minutes
Do this with a friend, not alone — self-measuring the back and waist is where almost every mistake happens. Wear the underwear you plan to wear on the day, and don’t hold your breath or pull the tape tight.
| Measurement | How to take it | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Bust | Around the fullest part, tape level all the way round, arms down. | Pulling the tape tight. It should sit flat, not compress. |
| Underbust | Directly beneath the bust, snug against the ribs. | Measuring over a bra band that’s too loose. |
| Waist | The narrowest part of your torso — usually just above the navel. | Using your jeans waistband. That’s your hip, not your waist. |
| Hip | The fullest part of your seat and hips, feet together. | Measuring too high and losing 4–5cm. |
| Hollow to hem | From the dip at the base of your throat, straight down the front to the floor, in the shoes you’ll wear. | Measuring barefoot, then wearing 9cm heels. |
| Shoulder to bust point | From the top of the shoulder seam down to the fullest point of the bust. | Starting from the neck instead of the shoulder. |
| Nape to waist | From the bone at the base of your neck down the spine to your natural waist. | Doing this one alone. You can’t. Ask your helper. |
| Arm length | Shoulder point to wrist, arm slightly bent. | Measuring with the arm locked straight. |
| Bicep | Around the fullest part of the upper arm, relaxed. | Flexing. Relax the arm completely. |
| Height | Barefoot, against a wall, heels together. | Rounding up. We’d rather have the real number. |
Before we cut, a human checks your numbers
We compare your measurements against each other — a waist that doesn’t agree with your hip and torso length is a signal, not a detail. If anything looks off, we ask you to re-measure on a video call. It costs twenty minutes and saves a gown.
